Why? There is too much law for those who can afford it and far too little for those who cannot. No one can be satisfied with this state of affairs. The cost of hiring a lawyer and the mysteries of the legal process discourage most people of modest means from trying to enforce their rights.
Fact: Statistics show that one out of every two Americans will need the advice
of a lawyer in the next twelve months.
Fact: Nearly two thirds of the legal situations faced by moderate income
households are not finding their way into the justice system.
Fact: Most Americans do not seek legal help with legal needs because
they feel it will not help and that it will cost too much. Other reasons
are they feel they can handle the problem on their own, that a lawyer's
involvement will not help, and they do not know how to find a lawyer.
Fact: In 1995, 85.8 million lawsuits were filed in the US, an average of
235,068 per day, 9794 per hour, 163 per minute, and nearly 3 per second.
Fact: In the next twelve months, the odds are greater that you will be in
court than in a hospital.
Fact: 70% of all Americans do not have a will.

Legal Shield
What would you do if you were detained
by a law officer? Would you know what your rights were? What if you found
yourself in this situation at 1:00 am on a Saturday? What if you were pulled
over and you felt it was due to your age? Or your gender, or even your race?
What would you do? If you ever found yourself in any of these situations,
you now have somewhere to turn - the Legal Shield. As a Legal Shield
member, if detained, present your Legal Shield membership card to the
officer. By showing this card, you make it clear that you have access to
legal representation and that you are requesting to contact a lawyer immediately.
Further, you can call the 24 hour, toll-free number on the card to contact
your Provider Law Firm.
This is an add-on service to the
Pre-Paid Legal Service. There are some limitation that apply.
Price for this service is either $17 or $26 per month, including the Legal Shield. It is usually paid by electronic transfer from your checking account.
